Licenses for Scientists
What Is a License?
Everyone gets free access to DECTRIS CLOUD through a EXPLORATION License, which includes limited access to all features. You can use DECTRIS CLOUD at no cost, and if you need more resources or extended capabilities, you can upgrade by purchasing a license.
A license grants an individual end-user the right to access and use DECTRIS CLOUD’s computing environments and services. Depending on the selected license tier and type, a license may include access to:
- Interactive sessions and job execution
- Specific scientific software packages
- Hot or archive storage options
- High-performance cloud infrastructure
Licenses are individual or by team and non-transferable.
How to Obtain a License
Licenses must be obtained directly through DECTRIS CLOUD via our integrated checkout process. This includes:
Requesting a Quote
You can request a quote from within the DECTRIS CLOUD platform, where you can select your licensing tier and additional packages.
Accepting the Quote
The quote, once generated, is valid for 30 days. Once reviewed, you can accept the quote and proceed with payment options.
Payment
Payment can be made by credit card or invoice, depending on your organization’s preferences and the chosen billing flow. Payment by invoice can be done in CHF (when the billing location is in Switzerland), JPY (when the billing location is in Japan), EUR or USD, anywhere in the world.
License Activation
Upon successful payment, you will receive a license activation code which you can use to activate the license in the WebApp.
License Tiers
DECTRIS CLOUD offers three user license tiers — Exploration, Discovery, and Impact — to match different levels of usage and performance needs. All licenses provide access to private projects, environments, and job templates, but vary in scale, compute limits, and session duration. Whether you're trying out the platform with a Discovery license or running production workloads with an Impact license, the table below outlines the specific capabilities included with each tier.

License Duration and Expiry
Licenses are time-limited and typically valid for one or more years, depending on the selected option during checkout. You will receive advance notifications before your license expires.
We recommend renewing or extending your license before expiry to avoid service interruptions.
Tax-Exempt Purchases
If you are tax-exempt and eligible to make purchases without VAT or applicable taxes, please send your tax exemption documentation to our sales team at sales@dectris.cloud before completing your payment. Once your status is verified, we will issue a revised invoice that reflects the exemption.
