Data Safeguarding
In our role as Custodian of Scientific Data, we see it paramount to undertake all necessary measures to ensure Availability, Accessibility and and Protection of any type of Scientific Data in our Service. To achieve this goal, we strive to meet the standards for Information security as outlined in the internationally recognized ISO 27001. As such, we take the following measures to safeguard and protect your scientific data:
• Access Control
To ensure authenticity of Scientific data, we restrict data editing rights whenever possible, both on the application and on the infrastructure level. We further have automated test procedures in place to check for potential access breaches and/or permission mismanagement.
• Environmental Security and Data Safety
All Experiment Data is stored across three physically separated locations, ensuring protection against singular environmental events. Furthermore, Experiment Metadata is backed up to physical locations >1’000 km apart at least once every 7 days.
• HR Measures
All DECTRIS Cloud employees are regularly trained on and made aware about data safeguarding measures and data security best practices.
• Operational Security
All Experiment Data is versioned controlled, adding additional fallback safety in case of malicious and/or unforeseen data manipulation. Further, we perform regular safety and penetration tests with third parties to identify operational risks and potential impacts
• Communications Security
To reduce the impact of potential security breaches, we segregate physical and virtual networks. Further, whenever technically possible, we use encrypted network protocols.
• Incident Management
In order to ensure timely response in case of unforeseen behavior, we use automated monitoring service for real time incident reports to technical experts.
