Is DECTRIS D.LAB suitable for any Institute and Team?
Yes. D.LAB scales from small research groups to large multi-team labs and enterprise research institutions — including universities and large research facilities — with configurable workspaces, access control and team grouping per research project.

REPRODUCIBILITY & REUSE

Can analyses be reproduced?
Yes. In DECTRIS D.LAB, data, software environment and the analysis tasks are captured as the group works, so one can rerun workflows and rest assured that the different states of files and libraries are kept. With its core designed to support reproducibility, D.LAB captures every step of the discovery journey, so you can always go back and retrieve what worked.
Can I rerun analyses?
Yes. The platform captures full analysis snapshots — data, software environment, parameters, and compute — so any past run can be reproduced by any project member with access. Scripts are versioned and can be forked and adapted. The 30+ community tools are preinstalled and ready without setup. No environment to rebuild; no code to retranslate.

COLLABORATION

Can analysis results be shared?
Yes. For each and every research project, analysis steps, software and data are shared with project members by default. The Lab owner (group leader or PI) has access to every project under their lab. Sharing results with other collaborators that do not access the platform directly is also possible via shared links.
Can researchers collaborate remotely?
Yes. The platform is globally accessible via browser, so all collaborators can contribute to the research project wherever they are. Project members see live lab activity and can comment inline on any analysis task.
Does DECTRIS D.LAB support collaboration between PhDs and PIs?
Yes. Working together as a research group is at the heart of D.LAB's capabilities. The platform's collaboration engine has been designed to enable researchers to perform scientific workflows of varying complexity, supported by a flexible software environment and a robust compute engine, while keeping Group Leaders and Principal Investigators close to the work, and fostering communication among project members. Lab collaboration and decisions can be made with full context, with guidance, mentorship and contribution from anywhere.

Can I organize and manage my research projects in DECTRIS D.LAB?
Yes. DECTRIS D.LAB automatically connects everything related to a project in one space, so files, logs and analyses are organized and accessible, while remaining connected to the lab — so files and analysis details stay, even when students, postdocs and other staff leave.
Does DECTRIS D.LAB support Jupyter and Python?
Yes. D.LAB supports a variety of programming languages with fully customizable programming environments that let researchers work with Python, C++, R and others. Additionally, it offers browser-based Python sessions and Jupyter environments for interactive analysis.
Can I execute automated jobs?
Yes. Users can create reusable job templates and execute automated processing workflows via the UI or using API endpoints for full integration with lab infrastructure and powerful automation.
Does it scale compute resources?
Yes. D.LAB orchestrates CPU and GPU resources on demand, leveraging cloud-native capabilities to extend local infrastructure. It provides on-demand CPU and GPU resources, plus elastic storage for data-intensive workloads, so researchers are not limited by local hardware constraints.

COMPLIANCE & SECURITY

Does DECTRIS D.LAB provide compliance information?
DECTRIS D.LAB is GDPR compliant. Compliance documentation is available to institutional IT and procurement teams on request.
Does DECTRIS D.LAB support single sign-on (SSO)?
SSO is not enabled by default. Custom SSO capabilities can be requested for Enterprise plans — contact us to discuss your institution's requirements.
How is security validated?
DECTRIS conducts independent penetration testing annually and maintains a programme of continuous security improvements. Further documentation is available to institutional IT teams on request.
How is user access managed?
Access in D.LAB is managed through a role-based system scoped to each project. There are four access levels: Owners have full control; Managers can configure the workspace and manage members; Members can run analyses and contribute; Viewers can inspect results without making changes. The lab owner — typically the group leader or PI — is automatically granted ownership of all projects created under their lab.
Is data encrypted and protected?
Yes. The platform uses encrypted data transfer and is built on a secure architecture. Access to data is strictly controlled through the role-based permission system.
